Welcome to Week 8! (Summer 2024)
Greetings again from my hometown neighborhood in Stevens Point, WI. I am still here, visiting my parents and siblings. I'm coming specifically from RIverwoods Park in my old neighborhood, where I spent a lot of my time as a kid, ripping around on my bike! We are entering Week 8 of this 13-week summer term and June is already coming to a close. Why, oh why, do summers go by so swiftly?! And this is another Exam week. We just wrapped up the chapter on Sexual Behavior and that's another 4 chapters, so it's time for a second Exam. This one covers chapters 5 (we skip 6 & 7), 8, 9, & 10, and it is due by the end of Thursday, June 27.
At the end of this video, I have a link to a fascinating (optional) video (or audio) podcast by neuroscientist David Eagleman, called "What do we find beautiful?" from his awesome "Inner Cosmos" podcast series. I urge you to check it out!

Greetings from my childhood home and neighborhood! I just arrived at my parents in Stevens Point, Wisconsin after an 8 hour drive from Cincy. Made the trip with just one stop for gas and a bite of gas station food after more than 6 hours of nonstop driving! 10 minutes of walking around here and I already have mosquito bites! Swear to god they are the state bird! 90-some degrees all the way here...

Greetings from my walk through Cincinnati, Newport, and Covington on this Sunday before we begin week 5! Congrats on getting through the first 4 weeks and block of material covered on the first Exam, which you completed this weekend! Hope you had a memorable Memorial Day and great weekend! Welcome to the new week. It's the 4th one already and we wrap up coverage of the first four chapters in preparation for the first Exam, which will be open later this week and due by the end of Sunday (June 2nd). I urge careful review and mastery in particular of chapters 2-4 as these are very fundamental to the rest of the course and much...

Here we are in week three already and it suddenly feels outside like summer. The temps are up and the sun sets late here in Cincy. I hope you had a good weekend and are having a great summer so far, wherever you are! We are in the middle of looking closely at how neurons communicate these couple of weeks, the real basis of EVERYTHING… certainly of ALL behavior! People often say they are interes...

I hope your first week of the summer term went well and that you had a great weekend. It looks like y’all found and figured out MindTap and managed to get the first chapter completed. Good work! We go at a slightly accelerated pace in the summer, so keep it up! Hit me up if you have any questions or would just like to chat. I do intend to be on campus some days if you’re local and want to come ...

Aha! Here we are in the last week of classes. You made it and are nearly done! Was this semester short and fast for you or long and slow? A bit both for me. Parts felt endless, like January, which felt like a mini semester of its own. Then all of a sudden, it was spring break, which now feels like ages ago. Whatever! Time is weird. I’m almost never eager for a semester to end and this is no dif...

Oops, with all the wonderful chaos that the solar eclipse was for me, I neglected to record my weekly greeting until today (Wednesday). I share a little about my eclipse experience, offer some encouragement for sticking with everything for just another week and a half, and I invite you to the Psychology Department End-of the-Year Celebration Banquet, occuring on Monday, April 22nd. Have a fab r...

Big week this week! You’ve got Exam 3 due on Friday and your My Heroic Imagination or My Favorite Brain Part video presentation due on Sunday. But it’s really downhill from then on! Only this week and then two more weeks of classes left. Well, and then a week of finals. But that’s it! You can and will do it! I’ve got confidence in you. Here’s a little greeting from the Purple People Bridge duri...

Welcome to Week 12! In this greeting, I tell you about a GREAT podcast series by Stanford neuroscientist, David Eagleman, called "Inner Cosmos." Check it out at: eagleman.com/podcast. Welcome back from SPRING break and back to the winter coats. Hopefully, just for the day. Today is officially the last day of winter. Let’s hope the weather actually got the memo! I hope you had a terrific break. We are two-thirds of the way through this semester and have just these five more weeks of classes. Trust me, they will simultaneously feel like they are flying and dragging by! Keep up...

I actually hope you don’t look at this until after Spring Break! I sincerely want you to enjoy the time off and not check in on things like school! But if and when you do see this, I just want to say hi from my walk in the woods at French Park on this gorgeous Monday and let you know I’m thinking of y’all! Hope you’re having a Great break!

If you’re anywhere near Cincy, a day like the day I filmed this or the day I sent it will make you think we are well into Spring! Even though it’s been a mild winter here, this is a welcome change from simultaneous rain/sleet/snow we had just days ago on Friday. Don’t plan on winter being over in Ohio, though. Nope. Gear up for a great week and finish up strongly before heading in and perhaps o...

The way it was taught in my college I don't have any idea that the dog was undergone throgh painful surgical procedures just for measuring the amount of sliva secreted by him.
He has such curious way of speaking hahah, I love that I came across this footage. We’re covering his trait theory this week in personality psychology class
Very interesting
The guy definitely is a Chad.
Love that part, the heros of the Milgram experiment are usually neglected, for me this is one of the most important aspects.
It’s too bad they had to wear lock and collar around their necks and be subjects of research in an environment not their own.
Lol fuck, I like this video as a joke. Stay away from Prozac kids. You won't be able to orgasm, masturbate, or cry. Happy?
